Godt Nyttår and other things…..

Happy New Year to you all! It only took me 13 days before I made it back in here, as I've come back with a ski injury which has put me out of action for a few days, but I’m slowly getting there and getting back into my knitting, as it hasn’t been easy, not when you’re wearing strapping on your left wrist it isn’t , but there you go!

So this represents me right now, a broken ski angel!

I saw her on sale in a garden centre, and the lady on the check out told me that she only had one ski so was of no use, but I told her I wanted her anyway, as she represented me – well at least she has one ski on, whereas I came out of both of mine (thankfully!) but I didn’t ski after that!

And she has a bent pole also! Well I didn’t bend mine, but my left one dragged my wrist back, and as a result of that, my wrist was injured!

So, I am getting round to completing orders a little slower right now, but I am getting there, so please bear with me!

And as I was nosing through my Odd Molly wardrobe this morning, I came across this beauty which I'd forgotten about......

This adorable tunic has been languishing in my wardrobe for years, the truth is, I’ve only ever worn it once, as it’s too big for me, which is really sad, as I made such an effort to get hold of it at the time!

The embroidery and detailing in this sweet little tunic is amazing, it really is a striking piece, and sometimes I feel Odd Molly don’t make them like this any more (although I am thrilled at this seasons collection and it’s really nice to see some classics making a comeback!)

It's a size 1 by the way!

A time to love and a time to give………Utøyas Venner.

After the tragic events that took place in Norway on 22nd July, I decided I wanted to try and raise some money, for what I believe, is a worthy cause, and so I’m looking to raise funds which will help re-build the community on the island of Utøya, and to also help those families who lost their precious children and loved ones on that day.

Many years ago I used to love cross stitching by hand, and have made many items for my own home, and for friends who mean a lot to me, as well as selling them all over the world.

However, due to the time consuming nature of hand cross stitching, I put it aside, but I felt that this would be the ideal opportunity to pick up my embroidery threads and do something useful. And so I’ve made this lovely little cushion, which I would like to offer up for auction, via my Facebook page.

The cushion is completed with beautiful fabrics from Ian Mankin, which really add to the finished item.

I originally called this photo ‘Last of the summer light’ as this wee little cushion has been sitting on a chair on my landing since the beginning of August, waiting to raise some money and find a home!

So, my dear friends, this auction will take place via my Little Miss Norway Facebook Page, and in order to bid, all you have to do first is become a fan of my page, then place your bid. Simple as that!

BUT YOU MUST BE A FAN OF MY PAGE IN ORDER TO BID ON THE AUCTION - that's the important bit!

I'm going to start the bidding at £25.oo

The auction will close on Wednesday, 30th November, at 8pm British time (9pm CET)

I will then contact the highest bidder and send them the Utøyas Venner Paypal link, where they can make the payment direct, and then send me confirmation that it has been received.

Once that takes place, I will post the cushion onto the successful bidder, the postage costs of which, will be picked up by myself.

In fact, when I came up with the idea, I saw this dress and knew that I had to make a pair to compliment it – and I'd like to think they do!

VIVE MARIA LEGWARMERS –update……

I've had a lot of enquiries about these legwarmers since yesterday and have some for sale now, so I thought I’d come back and do an update.

As with anything in design and development, you revise a pattern or whatever you're working on, till you reach the point where you’re happy with the end result, which I have thankfully, arrived at now!

But along the way, I made a number of legwarmers, which came out in differing sizes, and so I have a couple of pairs which some customers might find meet their requirements.

This chalk pair here were the very first ones I made, so have come out a little smaller than those I make now. They are all 57cm long, but this pair, without elastication at the top of the leg, are 41cm.

Some ladies like a bit of stretch, others prefer not, so it’s down to the customers personal choice I guess, but you can see that this pair are very slim fitting.

They would be ideal on a taller lady with slim legs, and so I’m offering my very first pair ever made at a special price of £60.00 (excl of P&P)

DARK GREY ‘VIVE MARIA’S’

As you can see, the dark grey pair are a little more ‘forgiving’ and are at the standard size that I’ve arrived at now.

Once again, this pair are 57cm long, and at the top of the leg, they stretch (once again without elastic at the moment) to 46cm.

These beauties are in a wonderfully soft pure merino yarn, and so these are being offered for sale at £70.00 (excl of P&P)

I hope everyone understands that they are far more time consuming to make than a pair of wristwarmers, and have a lot of finishing's on them, but given how much others are charging for legwarmers in an acrylic mix, when mine are pure wool, I guess it’s not a bad price to pay really for something that has been handcrafted - and as the little charms on the crocheted ties say "Made with love"!

I can make them in any colour (with the exception of black, as it’s just too hard on the eyes – even dark grey was a struggle for me!)

And if anyone is up for a pair with contrasting ties and garter tops, then I’d love to make a pair like this!

They would look something like the armwarmers I recently made here……

VIVE MARIA–The story continues……

I have been soo excited about these pretties for a long while now! My beautiful Vive Maria Legwarmers have been in the making since March this year, when I had a thought in mind, then came the whole process of designing and knitting them up.

The first pair finally came to fruition in August, and since then, I’ve been revising the pattern, till I finally arrived at the right sizings etc. I’ve knitted a fair few pairs now, so I guess you could say that I could knit them with my eyes closed – but then again, I’d better not!

Modelling them for me here is a beautiful lady from Sweden, who has a wonderful blog called ‘Early Morning Prose’, which is worth dropping by for a look-see, and you can find it here……

And here they are! Such pretty detailing, with a crocheted ankle edge and ties up the back, finished off with pretty bows at the side of the leg, but what I really think is sweet is…

What I call the crocheted ‘garter’ edge at the top of the leg – flirty and cute indeed!

Back and front detail – and there’s lots of it!

Like these sweet little charms! ‘Made with a smile!’ are a ‘one-off’ tho and this pair are for sale right now!

They look fabulous on!

There’s a lot of hard work goes into these, but they truly are a labour of love for me to make!

Good chocolate and fine yarn produces……

Pretty new wristwarmers for Autumn/Winter that’s what!

I’ve been knitting like a crazy woman since August, and in some respects, wish I’d started earlier, or acquired me another pair of hands, whatever, here are some of my new knitted wares for the chilly seasons.........

VIVE MARIA WRISTWARMERS

I decided to update my styles and have used a different lacy pattern this time round, finished off with a crocheted thumb opening, which makes them look even prettier!

These are my all time favourites – well I have been wearing the new design for a month now!

THUMBELINA WRISTWARMERS

Thought it was about time I put a cable pattern in somewhere or other, and so here it is, on my lovely Thumbelina Wristwarmers! They feel chunkier, but they’re still as slim fitting on the hand as the usual 4 ply ones.

Put them together and what have you got…….

Two lovely new designs to keep you warm through the coming seasons!

See what I mean, the best melkesjokolade (in my opinion anyway! ) and wonderfully soft yarn, produce something wonderful! Oh, and perhaps the dulcet tones of a singer from Norway in my ears – now that always helps the process!

They looked so pretty hanging in my ‘LOVE tree’ that I’ve left them there for now!

More ladies who wear Little Miss Norway!

Hi everyone, long time no speak - again!

But I have been mad, mad busy with knitting and sewing and coming up with some lovely Autumn/Winter knitwear, so before I let you see them, I thought I’d post something about the lovelies who’ve been kind enough not only to support my designs, but let me have access to photo’s of them wearing them!

Here’s a very beautiful Argentinian lady, now residing in the US, called Marina, wearing one of my ‘Heidi’ dresses and I have to say, it’s the smallest, sweetest little one I’ve made so far – perhaps I should start making little girls things then!

It was soo pretty, that frankly, I had to be parted from it, as I didn’t want to let it go – but I knew it was going to a lovely girl, who brightens my day every time I hear from her, so I was happy to send it on it’s way!

Special girls deserve special things! I tell you, there are angels all around us, and this lovely is one of them!

See, look how small it is next to my Heidi dress – and I thought mine was small!

Now I love making Boudoir Wraps……..

And this one was no exception, as the lace and fabric used were so pretty!

This lovely lady is Lotte from Sweden and she’s really happy with how it turned out – and so am I! White one’s always look so fresh and pretty, especially with a tan!

Gosh, it’s been a while…..

It most certainly has, but then I have been majorly busy with knitting and sewing – more of which to come in the next few days, I promise!

But for now, I’m having another clear-out, as I am running out of space in my own wardrobes, so the time has come to move a few things on and here they are.

HUNKY DORY SQUAW VALLEY BLOUSE, SIZE SMALL

This beautiful blouse is anything but small, as it’s rather on the large size, hence the reason I’m selling it. It has beautiful embroidered detailing and a lovely neck edge. Originally retailed at 1799 SEK, will sell for £60.00.

Please note, that this is runs large for a small blouse, so I would say it would fit a large Odd Molly size 1 to a small size 2. Hope this helps! Very pretty and wish it fitted me, but sadly, it just doesn’t!

Is it a Native Blouse? Can’t for the life of me remember, but anyway, it’s for sale! Size 1, bought last year, but never worn, only tried on, I guess dark colours are not really me!

VIVE MARIA, the story begins here………

Well hello there lovelies, seems like it’s been a while since I’ve had time to post on a regular basis, but as you will see, I’ve been busy coming up with, and knitting new designs for Autumn/Winter.

And here’s the start of the collection, ‘Vive Maria’ Sleeve warmers!

I’ve loved designing and putting these beauties into production, and they really are stunning, with lots of pretty detailing in them!

They look so pretty on and I can’t wait to wear this pair with my lovely new winter white cardigan from Odd Molly, and my very pretty Kahlo dress - roll on vakker høst!

Love the crocheted ties on the back of them, just adds an little extra ‘something’ to the design…….

And for the sleeve warmers, I’ve moved the crocheted bow to the hand edge.

So then, what about this other pair…….

These beauties were inspired by the amazingly pretty ‘Bakers Cross’ Dress by Odd Molly!

Think the contrasting ties on these really stand out and look so pretty…..

The contrasting band was crocheted separately then stitched onto the sleeve warmer.

They really are quite stunning and as you can see, are the perfect accompaniment to this very beautiful dress…..

A little something to pretty up Autumn…..

Well there’s a slight chill in the air when you wake up in the morning now, so I guess Autumn is on it’s way, which makes it cool enough to wear a cardigan now and then, so what better way to ‘pretty up’ one than by adding some sweet little broderie anglais wristlets?

The fabric used on mine really is stunning, with quite a deep border and finished with pretty bows…….

Wore them with this cardigan last night and they really brightened it up and made it look extra special!

Hmmn, not impressed……. :-(

Yes, the postie arrived yesterday, with the first pair of those lovely high wedges I ordered from Aldo, that the lovely models were wearing at the Odd Molly SS12 catwalk show last week, so imagine my surprise when I tried one on, loved them, then decided (because they’re soo high!) that I need to put the other one on, in order to balance – only to find that I have two ‘right’ shoes!!

So, I ring the company, who basically are not interested in sorting out the problem, they just tell me to return them to the Liverpool store, which is the nearest to me – but that’s an 80 mile round trip – hence the reason I ordered online in the first place!!

When I asked why they couldn’t just exchange them and send out another pair, they told me that they couldn’t do that and that I could send this pair back and just order another pair online – but they’ve now sold out online.

So, I speak to an assistant at the Liverpool shop to see if they can help me locate a pair – anywhere and the lovely lady there (Chelsea!) is attempting to do that for me, as apparently, there’s only one pair left (in my size!) I’m thinking, they must be a pair of ‘left’ wedges then!

So fingers crossed I get them, but this is the second example this week, of me ordering something and a company sadly abrogating all responsibility for putting right something that’s gone wrong at their end. Whatever happened to 'quality control?........

When you think about it, thankfully I am fortunate enough (if they’d been in stock somewhere!) to be able to just re-order and await my refund, but what about people who just can’t afford to do that, and when something goes wrong, it’s left to the customer to put it right for themselves? It's not acceptable really!

Now I know that there are a lot of companies out there who have excellent customer care service but this is a prime example of someone getting all wrong.

And I know for a fact (considering the number of sizes that were available online before I posted about these two pair of wedges) that they have obviously benefitted from my blog post, but you know, no company in this day and age can afford to have a bad experience also blogged – and that’s a great shame for them, but perhaps they need to look at the calibre of person working in the customer care service team….

And with that, I’ll jump down off my very high wedge (singular obviously!) and get on with the next complaint I have – la-di-da, happy days indeed!

Summer dreaming….for next year!

Without a shadow of a doubt, this has to be my favourite outfit from the Odd Molly SS 12 show which was held last week in Stockholm. I have many outfits like this that I bought in another lifetime, from an English designer by the name of Karen Millen (I will dig them out and post them here!) Think this is the reason why I love crochet so much, and I know that this outfit is on the top of my wish list for next year!

And this is probably second on my wish list!

Thing is, I fell in love with some of the shoes also, especially this pair…..

And these also!

So, as you will have to wait till around mid January to pre-order your Spring/Summer wares, may I suggest that if you like the shoes, you can purchase them now – and on sale too – at a company called ALDO – I just did and they’re winging their way to me as I type!

Today’s bits and bobs……

Good Morning lovelies!

Well the sun is just about shining here and as my friend is coming over for lunch, I’m going to make the best of it and eat outside and enjoy it whilst we can, so I’m going to push the boat out and wear something summery – at last, so it’s between this little outfit…….

Or this one………thought it was about time I wore some of these little shorts I’ve made, so I may go with these!

colour of these are adorable, the palest pink…..

And I’ve been having lots of fun recently using different coloured dyes to change the look of some items of clothing, and in this instance, a baby doll set from H&M, as I have one in white and liked the idea of a pink one, so I came up with this, but you have to be careful just how much dye you use and keep an eye on it in the washing machine, and if necessary, stop the process there and then to get the colour you want – but it is fun and yesterday I dyed some lace a wonderful shade of violet, along with some fabric, so I can’t wait to use it!

I’m happy with the result though, as it’s the palest blush of pink and looks perfect with theses little shorts of mine!

So that’s decided then, the second outfit – better crack on and start preparing things for lunch!

Wishing you a sunny day also, even if it’s not too warm, it’s better to have the sun shining on you!

Tonight’s outfit perhaps?…….

Thinking it may well be, as I was due to wear this little lot at my annual summer party the other week, but given just how floaty the sleeves are, I think even I would have had them in everything in the kitchen, so I decided against it – and a wise decision it was too!

I love these sweet little skinny jeans from Italian designers MET, but I wanted to embellish them a little bit more, so I stitched a whole load of diamante buttons and charms on them – not sure how they will wash, so it’s probably a ‘one-off’ wear for them but I can always stitch them back on again!

And here it is, my beloved ‘Engene’ (meadows) blouse! It is so very pretty and I loved every second of making this one! The material came from the US and the crocheted lace trim on the bottom was from a wonderful little shop in Lech in Austria. It cost twice as much as the rest of the materials put together, but I think it’s worth it!

I threaded some white ribbon through the crocheted lace trim, and the hearts pattern within it makes it look even prettier. The sleeves are so billowy that I love to see them floating around, so as you can see, not one to wear whilst doing anything vaguely domesticated!

The little tie at the back is a nice detail, rather than the use of a button closure……

And as I was due to wear it the day after the tragic events which took place in Norway, it seemed fitting to show my support in some way or other, so I wore my little Norge bow for a week on other clothing – it just seemed right at the time…..

And with that, I’m off to continue on some ‘development’ ideas I have rushing around my head – once I get started, I just get lost in the moment!

They were made in the softest pure cotton yarn and finished with a pretty cotton crocheted belt……

The crocheted edges and pretty hearts pattern really make them stand out…….

They are very ‘forgiving’ and sit comfortably on and are not too short in the leg, but hey, when you look this good in them, that’s not a problem is it?!

Bits and bobs…….

Hei!

Those of you who read this earlier would have seen a different version of this post, but it was a little sad and negative, so I've decided to change it and remove part of it, as it's really not my style - hope it hasn't confused anyone!

So, on a lighter note........

To update you, the winner of my dark powder ‘Engel’ wristlets, was lovely Solfrid from vakre Norge, and they are winging their way there as I type – Little Miss Norway is on her to way to Norway!

These little mammas from a previous Odd Molly life arrived last week and I’m thrilled to bits with them, they look soo cute on! Never thought I’d own a pair of these, so I just need a proper sunny day now to wear them – if we’re lucky enough, as there haven’t been many this summer where I live!

Definitely starting to think I have a shorts fetish now, as I have so many pairs of them! LOL

See, this poor cow has had to shelter under a tree, as it’s soo wet out there today! The others were smart enough to head back to the sheds, but this one just stayed there for hours, keeping her face dry and moo-ing a lot – no wonder!!

And it's so dark, that I’ve had to light some tealights – but at least I managed to go cut some of my very first lot of sweet peas before the rain came down!
But always one to end on a happy note, here’s a lovely photie……….

Tips for a revamp…….

I’ll bet if you’re a Molly girl, you have a number of these lovely silks in your wardrobe and have experienced the same problem as me, in that they used to have a tendency to split slightly along the seams.

Sometimes I would buy a bigger size, only to find it was too large on the top, so that didn’t solve the problem for me. I have repaired this little lot once before, but this time round, I decided to take a different approach, so I once again repaired the seams, then decided to remove the button closure from the back and replace it with some ribbon – from the little lace wash bags that Odd Molly occasionally supply, and here’s the result……

The powder ribbon worked superbly on the powder slip I had…….

And also used it on this rose silk tank – but in reality, you could use a ribbon of your own colour choice!

So you see, you can now wear your pretty little silk numbers to fit you perfectly, without ripping the seams!

Just a thought………..

Finalmente–it was a day too late however….

Well it was started in July 2010 and I was hoping to have it finished within a year, so I attempted to complete it on Sunday, but got side-tracked, and therefore it was finalised yesterday, taking me a day over a year since the idea sprung into my head, but there you go!

Think it was worth the wait though, as when I saw it on the mannequin for the first time, it brought tears to my eyes as it is just so pretty! Unfortunately the photos don’t do the lace used justice, so I attempted to take a photo with flash in order to highlight the detail somewhat……

The true colour is more like the other photos but I just wanted to pick out the beautiful lace panels running down the length of the dress.

I love the beautiful heart applique on the back of the dress – just a little extra detail that works really well!

Pretty little sleeves…….

Heidi Long and Heidi short, both lovely indeed!

But it’s with a heavy heart that I’m selling the long dress, as I would love to keep it, but in truth, I just can’t keep everything I make for little ole me so I guess I have to make a business decision every now and then and move things along – that plus I own 6 long dresses, and so far, I’ve only ever worn one, so there is no point in this hanging in my wardrobe not being worn, as I’d much rather someone else enjoy it instead!

The dress would fit up to an Odd Molly small size 2 if you’re not big on top, and I would recommend that you should be at least 168cm (like me!) or taller, as it sits on my ankle bone and not trailing on the floor!

This beauty is for sale at £100.00 (exc of P&P).

A lot of work, effort and more importantly, a massive amount of expensive lace went into making this dress, so it’s worth every penny, believe me!

Swedish beauty for a Swedish beauty!

And isn’t she just?……….

You know, I’ve made this tunic dress countless times now, and five in this colour combination, but I always hoped one day I’d witness a real Swedish beauty wearing it, and voila, here we have it, the beautiful Maria from Sweden wearing her very own!

And to complete the look, sporting a pair of super sweet little shorts which she was lucky enough to win in my summer prize giveaway last year, so you see, if you don’t enter my competitions, you won’t be in with a chance!

Think they look perfect together!

This was one of the very first things I made for sale, and it’s been very popular ever since, as it’s just a very versatile little tunic. You can dress it up and make it look fabulous, like Maria did in the first shot, or you can wear it more casual like she did here…….

So very pretty!

This dress is like a ray of sunshine and when I see mine, it always puts a smile on my face!

Vakre Norge

I can hardly believe what has happened in my beloved Norway, and in particular Oslo, a city in which I always feel like I leave a little of myself behind every time I leave.

My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Norway who have had to endure this terrible event. It's so very hard to take in right now and I'm hoping that I hear from everyone that I've made contact with as soon as possible, in order to put my mind at rest.

Funny how things turn out…..

Not the way I planned, but lovely all the same I guess!

You may recall, I started making this sometime last year on and off, and decided around February this year to start putting it together and posted it here as a work in progress – and it was, as I was under the impression that I had enough yarn left over with which to knit the last sleeves – that was, until I found that two of the balls of yarn were a completely different dye lot, and so after months of searching, I had to admit defeat and rethink the design of this little tunic – and so here it is, sleeveless, but nevertheless a pretty little number!

The neck is a perfect ‘v’ but is just sitting a little wobbly on the mannequin!

As you can see, it still looks pretty without sleeves and looks really nice with a spoiler top or pretty t-shirt underneath it!

So, as it has no sleeves, I decided to ‘pretty’ up the back of it and added a sweet little crocheted butterfly, in a silvery white yarn……

Pretty indeed…….

The skirt is nice also……

With sweet little detailing…….

Looks lovely on the mannequin, and I wish it fitted, but sadly (once again, groan!) it’s a little too big for me, so I have to pass on it and have decided to offer it for sale at £75.00 (excl of P&P)

The size runs between a large Odd Molly size 1 and a small size 2.

It took many hours to make, but it was fun, so for me, it was a pure labour of love!

The anticipation is killing me……

At last, the top of the dress is cut out and now I just need to get all my white articles completed in order that I can get this finished on the overlocking machine and wear it!

I only started making it last July, so I think it’s only right that I get a move on – and who knows, it may be ready in time for my summer party in a few weeks time!

But it is very pretty so fingers crossed I make it in time – watch this space for the finished article – coming soon!

It’s always nice to receive flowers……

But it’s so much more meaningful when those flowers are from your lovely neighbour and they’re from her garden – bliss!

These sweet peas are absolutely divine and I had enough for two vases, so the house smells divine!

Too posh to garden in?……well perhaps, but I had fun wandering around my own garden deadheading and weeding last week, and as I was enjoying wearing my bloomers and FOL, I decided not to change – however, as I’m painting yet more garden furniture today, there’s no way I’m wearing any Odd Molly – or Little Miss Norway for that matter!

Bits and bobs…..

Gosh, it’s a few weeks since I was in here!

Well as you’ve guessed, I’m back from holiday, had a fabulous time in Greece, but ended up poorly last week, so now I’m playing catch-up again, or should I say today, pottering and doing ‘dolce far niente’ as that sounds so much better!

And to kick us off, another pair of wee little shorts, but this time these were made for a very special girl called Maria from Sweden. I’m hoping that she sends me a photo of her wearing them real soon, as I know she’s going to look amazing in them!

I had so much fun making these, especially as they were for my dear friend Maria and the colour was just so pretty to work with – was looking forward to finishing off a pair of very pale pink ones today – well actually, the shorts are made, but can you believe it, I broke the crochet hook making the belt, so now I’ll have to wait till Saturday to replace it and finish them off!

And at last I finally got round to deciding how to finish off the top of this little number – heck, I only started it last July, so it was about time I got a move on – well it’s cut out, but I’m stalling until I’ve finished some white items of clothing I’m making, as it means changing the threads on the overlocker, and no matter how careful I am, one of them always breaks and it takes ages to fix it all up again! The not-so-nice part of sewing I guess…..

And now I’ve got some ideas in mind for this beautiful taupe coloured broderie anglais fabric from the US, as I think my dyed pink lace compliments it very well – and yes, I am determined that I will whatever I make this summer and not the next one!

So with that, I guess I’d better crack on instead of sitting here frittering the day away!

Almost holiday time – decisions, decisions…….

Well the last 6 months have been hectic for me, in terms of being busy here with orders and coming up with new designs, as well as personal issues, which are thankfully behind me now, and so with that, I can look forward to a week away in beautiful Greece, just to rest and relax and enjoy some warmth in these bones of mine!

But what do I take with me – oh heck, here we go again……..

Well this little lot are definitely on the list for packing! My beloved white Berry Dress and essential accoutrements, as well as some other lovely bits and bobs that you just need for a break in the sun!

And I guess this little lot will be making the list also!

It's good to see that my wares compliment my Mollies so well, and with some Melmelli and Ti Mo thrown in there, I guess I’m good to go – well I will be on Sunday anyhow!

And talking of the Berry Dress…..

Well not here, but in Facebook, as whilst it’s such a beautiful dress, I was rather surprised that there wasn’t a matching underslip to accompany it, like Odd Molly have produced in the past. With my powder version, I had my bloomers and shortie private slip, so that was okay, but in the case of this white lovely, well I had to come up with something that would preserve my modesty on my forthcoming holiday, so here it is…….

I always find that this lovely dress slips off my shoulder, be it the size 1 in powder that I originally bought, or this lovely white version in a size 0, which fits much better overall, but I still have the issue of it falling off, so I wanted to make sure that when it does, the slips straps looked pretty!

The other thing I find with a lot of dresses is when you bend over, you can end up showing off your underwear (as I have been known to in the powder version!) so I thought if that’s the case, then I’d better add some pretty lace to the top of it – that way you get a pretty eyeful instead!

But the Berry dress itself is the star here not my underslip, so I’ve just added a piece of lace along the bottom and kept it simple – the dress is full enough without making it bulky!

So, with some nude underwear, I should be good to go – don’t want to make the mistake I know a lovely lady did a while back, when she innocently wore white underwear under her dress and it showed through – not leaving it to chance there! LOL

And now I am most definitely off to do some ironing and make that tea I was promising myself!

Guess I couldn’t resist making a pair of these lovelies in white then! Well it is almost holiday time, so they will look great with a light tan!

I absolutely love making these sweet little things and it looks like they’ve taken over from where the wristlets finished in the Spring – and why not, it is the season of lovely weather….well it should be, as I had the heating on about an hour ago, as it’s darned wet and cold here – again!

Early Morning......

But not 8 o'clock precise!

As I sit here in my Craft Room, with a lovely cup of tea listening to the birds chirping away and looking at some of wares, at last I've managed to get the right shade of pink for a forthcoming project of mine….

This set of lace has been a number of shades of pink before I arrived at this pretty variation I can tell you!

First time round, it came out a garish shade of bubblegum, then I stripped it of the colour and took it back to what I thought was a pale shade of pink (yes, I sat on the kitchen floor watching the washing machine go round and round!) but I didn’t realise that the process would remove more of the dye before it was finished, making it the palest shade of pink that frankly, it was more or less white again!

Undeterred (even though the lace was starting to get very ragged at the ends!) I gave it one more go yesterday, and once again, had to stop the process earlier than the packet stated, but I’m very happy to say that I’m pleased with the final shade – just what I anticipated in the first place!

And this is the material that I will be using it with – a wonderful shade of taupe broderie anglais – now the ideas are running through my head (and design book!)

And talking of designs, here’s the skirt on a really pretty long dress which I’ve actually been working on since last July!!

The skirt is completely embellished with beautiful beige lace, but I can’t for the life of me, figure out how I want the top to look – sleeveless or something like my ‘Heidi’ dress perhaps – fingers crossed I come up with an idea soon or else I’ll be wearing it next summer instead!

Søte Hjerte Shorts for sale…….

Looks like I’ve moved on from making wristlets to knitting these cute little shorts for the time being – but then I guess they are seasonal!

So for sale here, I have two pairs of shorts, both of which are knitted in wonderfully soft 4 ply cotton yarns, finished with pretty little mercerised cotton tie belts in contrasting colours…..

There are slight differences between each pair as follows…..

** Grey Søte Hjerte Shorts **

These lovely slate grey shorts are knitted slightly longer than the powder pair, as I’m developing the pattern right now, and thought I would offer customers a little more coverage if they so wished and with this pair they deliver that nicely! They sit perfectly on the hip and look delightful on!

They are equivalent to an Odd Molly size 1 (which equates to a UK size 8-10 or 36-38 Continental)

These are so very pretty and the pale pink tie belt just lifts the colour of the shorts nicely! These are my faves, as previously published in a recent blog post!

For those of you who own or have seen Odd Molly’s Dreamdate shorts, these are more ‘forgiving’ and sit on the hip rather than slightly higher on the waist like theirs do!

FRIENDSHIP BRACELET FROM SOMETHING LONG FORGOTTEN….

I love making these bracelets and giving them to friends, but I have to say I’m saving this one for little old me this time!

Many years ago I had a beautiful pair of silver flat sandals that I wore till they almost fell apart – then when I moved I couldn’t find them and thought they were lost – that was, until I had a clear out in the loft the other day and came across them in a box – oh was I thrilled to bits! Thing was, not many of the stones on them were salvageable this time round, but these were, and so with that I crocheted a little wristband and there they are – to be recycled and enjoyed once more!

And it looks lovely with this old favourite of mine….

DRESS OF THE DAY–SWEDISH BEAUTY

Good morning everyone! Today the sun is shining here, so I thought I’d display this summery lovely a made a while back – well 4 of them in total actually!

The pale lemon broderie anglais fabric always puts a smile on my face as it just reminds me of summer!

And accentuated with the beautiful pale blue ribbons and white broderie trim, makes it a delight to behold.

Definitely a tunic fit for a Swedish lovely!

TIME TO START SEWING AGAIN……

It’s that time of the year again when the sewing machine and overlocker come out and I start sewing in earnest again.

And this is the very last of the material I had to left with which to make a ‘Heidi’ dress – well the white material that is, as I can no longer source it! Shame really, as it’s adorable!

This one’s winging it’s way to the US now so I hope the lovely lady will love what I’ve made for her daughter! I worn mine quite a lot last year, and lovely Monica from Sweden has one also, so at least 3 identical ones were made. Will have to think up different colour ways now!

ZARA DOES ODD MOLLY–well kind of……

Definitely an ‘homage’ don’t you think?…….

It’s a good match for the powder shades but the only thing is it’s super delicate, so could catch easily, but at that price (£25.99) it’s worth the risk.

Also comes in a taupe and white shade. This one looks great with my silk spoiler and a pair of white jeans!

Sweet heart indeed as these lovely shorts attest to!

I've been wanting to knit a pair of shorts for such a long time but have never got around to it – that its till now and I have to say that I really enjoyed creating them!

You could say they were an ‘homage’ to something or other - you Molly girls know the score! but mine are a little, shall we say ‘more forgiving’ all round than the dreamdate pretties – which I adore and think look wonderful on, but more in that ‘Kylie shorts’ way!

These are a little longer in the leg and don’t cling as much, but look just as pretty!!

I've created these in that perfect powder shade and as they’re knitted in cotton, it makes them very light for summer wear.

And finished with my trademark crocheted bows and a wonderfully pretty belt in a dusky pink shade.

They look adorable peeking out below my fields of lace tunic……

And super pretty for walking around on holiday in with this sweet little butterfly camisole!

Oldies but goldies…..

Guess you can’t beat the oldies as far as I’m concerned – sometimes I wish Odd Molly would keep on repeating some of their staples, but hey, I guess all designers like to move on and evolve, but I really do yearn for some of the old stuff – like this little lot – if anyone out there has any of the following items that they would like to move on, please leave a message for me here and I’ll get back to you!
I’m after this private slip in either a size 0 or 1 please…….

And ditto re: sizes for this sweet little rose private tank – they don’t make them like they used to……

Oh I love these sweet little shorts but I should have bought them when I had the chance in Bergen back in 2007!

Vakre Ting…..

Good Morning everyone – hope you’re having a wonderful day?

You know, it’s around this time that I put away the knitting needles and start my sewing projects, but to be honest, there has been such a demand for cotton wristlets this year, that I’ve been mad busy making them!

Well this might be the last batch, but who knows, I may even start knitting woolen ones for autumn/winter again as I take in the last of the suns rays in my garden – I find it very therapeutic so why not!

I wore my pair of powder cotton wristlets with my FOL the other day and they looked super pretty together – this shade is a perfect match. The vintage powder ones work so well with this year’s Odd Molly shade and they have been flying out of the door – almost as popular now as the powder ones!

And these vintage rose and apricot shades are also adorable, as you can see here…….

I wore my vintage rose pair with my Odd Molly silk tank the other night and they matched so well.......

And the apricot Engels with the revamped butterfly cardigan just look amazing – really looking forward to wearing these together sometime soon!

Somehow I’m thinking I haven’t seen the last of the cotton ones yet……

Not to say that there haven’t been a many more before her – you only have to look at Mette Marit of Norway and Crown Princess Viktoria of Sweden to name a few, but when I saw the dress yesterday morning, I immediately told anyone who would listent to me that this was a modern day take on Grace Kelly’s wedding dress – even down to the lily of the valley in the bouquet – and immediately had to rush to find one of my many books about her to prove it!

Don’t you think there are comparisons to be made?

Princess Graces dress still is my all time favorite and to me, she will always be the epitome of what a princess should look like.

But our Catherine, in this modern day take of it, took my breath away – she looked absolutely magnificent and so regal.

And in the village, a lovely day was had by all as we celebrated well into the evening.

Something fit for a wedding perhaps…………

Well with a Royal wedding theme everywhere right now, I decided to make my very first pair of white cotton wristlets and I have to say that they are very lovely indeed! In fact, I could imagine them being worn with a more informal wedding dress than that which Kate Middleton will be wearing tomorrow!

The cotton is mercerised, which gives them a lovely sheen and adds to the effect!

So, with a wedding dress in mind, what about this beauty for a more informal walk down the isle………

Ever since the Berry Dress made it’s appearance, I have coveted the ‘hard-to-find’ white version of it, and now that I’m the very proud owner of one, I have to say that it’s magnificent in it’s simplicity! Thankfully, a lovely sweet lady from Sweden found it for me, and I am so very thankful that she did – you know who you are my dear! xxx

Think you will agree, it really is simply stunning!

And it looks fabulous on with these sweet little wristlets – imagine getting married in this on a beautiful little island somewhere in Scandinavia perhaps?………

Just have to make a long underslip now to wear underneath it, as anyone with the powder version of this dress knows just how see-through they are – well this one leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination!

And a little blush of a tan would work wonders also! Looking forward to wearing it sometime soon then – roll on summer!

100th blog post–should be something significant then……..

Actually I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to reach this milestone post but there you go!

And whilst I have a number of things I’d like to blog, I didn’t feel that they were as significant as this one so here goes nothing…….

Basically I would just like to say a big ‘Tack så mycket’, ‘Tussen Takk, ‘Molto Grazie’ Vielen Dank’ and ‘Thank you very much’ for all the lovely ladies around the world who have supported my designs since I started selling them here!

Its rather sweet really, but a few years back, I just enjoyed making wristlets for all my a-ha friends whom I used to meet up with for concerts and the like (no more of those occasions to look forward to now, boo-hoo! ) However, I guess that’s how it all started in earnest and with that, once they and the other pretties I make were posted here, the orders took off!

Firstly, I decided to use the money for funding travel to concerts as trust me, it was never cheap and I originally used to call it my ‘Morten Harket Entertainment Fund’ and it came in very handy indeed, so many thanks to all who made a contribution to such a worthy cause! LOL

Now it’s taken on a bigger meaning in my life and I have to say, I enjoy every single thing that I make and have a very special little ritual (which will remain secret to me!) that I go through before every item is sent on it’s way around the world to all you lovelies and it always makes me smile when it happens!

When I started making things I never believed that anyone else would like my wares and therefore had no faith in what I was producing, but then one day, a dear friend by the name of Katherine told me to have faith in myself and what I made (she was one of the first people to believe in and support my designs!) and she sent me a little quote that helped me along the way – it was this…………

“Everything is already yours if you believe it to be so” (Voltaire)

And with that, I wrote it in a little book and now every day add another quotation which has meaning in my life.

So to you Katherine, Flora and Steffi I dedicate this blog post, as you lovely ladies were the first to support my designs and gave me the belief that I could actually pull this off and for that, I will always be thankful!!

So once again, many thanks to all you lovely ladies out there – you know who you are! xxxxxx

Butterfly, Butterfly……..

Eller sommerfugl, sommerfugl……… bear with me, all will be revealed!

But actually, it was for me!……..

From the moment I saw this beauty, I coveted it, but when it came to it’s release, I missed the opportunity to pre-order it (skiing in Obergurgl always falls at the wrong time then! LOL). So, after giving up the search online, I remembered that I had this old crocheted beauty sitting in my cupboard and with that, my mind started working overtime at the possibilities of ‘reinventing’ it and making something with the ‘Little Miss Norway’ stamp on it, so here’s a wee little tale of how it happened……..

Isn’t it a beauty?

Whilst I love it, I have to admit that the tassels around the bottom would have annoyed me somewhat, but I’m lucky in that my old number didn’t have anything of the sort attached to it – not to say that I couldn’t have lived with them, but I was in fear that if I had managed to purchase it, they would have become frayed and tattered over time, anyhow, I digress!

So here’s my original little wrap over cardigan which I bought in a small shop in Greece many, many years ago and it cost me next to nothing. Thing is tho, that I haven’t worn it for years now, due to the fact that the crocheted ties were just too long and that it was white and I have a few of them in my wardrobe (well I would, wouldn’t I?!)

Those ties really did bug me, but I knew that this little beauty had the potential to look so much prettier and live a new life again! First of all, the crocheted ties had to go and so they did, then I dyed it what should have been a perfect shade of powder pink, but it came out more like a bubblegum shade (yikes!) so I had to remove some of the dye in order to get it to the shade I wanted – and here’s the result……..

The finished colour – as I’d imagined it was going to look in the first place!

The detailing on the cardigan is lovely indeed!

So then, the colour was fine, and I needed to add some new ties to it, but I wanted to put an extra stamp on it, and with that, I decided to add a crocheted butterfly which I'd made a while back, which was in a contrasting shade of pink that would be attached to the back of the cardigan – and this is what I came up with…..

Crocheting it was the easy bit – attaching it to the back of a cardigan which, because of it’s open pattern, makes it very stretchy, was the challenging part – but I got there in the end – thankfully! LOL

Attaching the antennae's was most definitely the trickiest part of the process!!

And here’s the finished article – an ‘homage’ to that beautiful little Odd Molly cardigan…….

It is asymmetrical by the way and yes, the little adornment is another story which I will leave for another time……..

Here you can see the embroidered tape which I used to replace the original crocheted ties – and no, whilst it may have the ‘Little Miss Norway’ touch to it, the Norwegian bow is not attached – like I say, it’s another story!

I have to admit that it does look so much better now!!

Well I hope, if nothing else, that this has inspired some of you out there to have a go and see what you can do with an old piece of crocheted clothing that you no longer use – but please bear in mind, that it needs to be 100% cotton or else the dye may not take so well – if at all!

Fake Socks or Legwarmers–you decide…..

Don’t talk to me about laptops – especially new ones that don’t work and cause a myriad of problems! I’ve lost a fair bit of data and a lot of hours and hassle these last few weeks, so not much time for blogging and knitting and the like, but I did makes these lovelies recently, in between making phone calls to the computer store and what felt like living in the place at times – oh well……

Well at least I enjoyed making these beauties and it’s nice to know that one pair have arrived and the others should be winging their way to Norway – that’s if they haven’t arrived already!

The shades are muted and very pretty indeed – they will go with absolutely anything and look lovely either worn slightly above the knee or a little bit slouchy – the choice is yours!

These Powder lovelies arrived in Sweden a few days ago and are adorning the legs of a sweet girl there! (you know who you are!!)

And this lovely pair should be arriving very soon in the land of my forefathers – in fact, I’m very proud to say that they were my very first order from Norway!

Little Miss Norway will be worn in vakre Norge at last!
