100th blog post–should be something significant then……..

LMN Banner

Actually I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to reach this milestone post but there you go! Smile

And whilst I have a number of things I’d like to blog, I didn’t feel that they were as significant as this one so here goes nothing…….

Basically I would just like to say a big ‘Tack så mycket’, ‘Tussen Takk, ‘Molto Grazie’ Vielen Dank’ and ‘Thank you very much’ for all the lovely ladies around the world who have supported my designs since I started selling them here!

Its rather sweet really, but a few years back, I just enjoyed making wristlets for all my a-ha friends whom I used to meet up with for concerts and the like (no more of those occasions to look forward to now, boo-hoo! Sad smile) However, I guess that’s how it all started in earnest and with that, once they and the other pretties I make were posted here, the orders took off!

Firstly, I decided to use the money for funding travel to concerts as trust me, it was never cheap and I originally used to call it my ‘Morten Harket Entertainment Fund’  and it came in very handy indeed, so many thanks to all who made a contribution to such a worthy cause! LOL

Now it’s taken on a bigger meaning in my life and I have to say, I enjoy every single thing that I make and have a very special little ritual (which will remain secret to me!) that I go through before every item is sent on it’s way around the world to all you lovelies and it always makes me smile when it happens!

When I started making things I never believed that anyone else would like my wares and therefore had no faith in what I was producing, but then one day, a dear friend by the name of Katherine told me to have faith in myself and what I made (she was one of the first people to believe in and support my designs!)  and she sent me a little quote that helped me along the way – it was this…………

“Everything is already yours if you believe it to be so” (Voltaire)

And with that, I wrote it in a little book and now every day add another quotation which has meaning in my life.

So to you Katherine, Flora and Steffi  I dedicate this blog post, as you lovely ladies were the first to support my designs and gave me the belief that I could actually pull this off and for that, I will always be thankful!!

So once again, many thanks to all you lovely ladies out there – you know who you are! xxxxxx

Wishing you all a lovely day, wherever you may be!

Here, we’re getting ready for the Royal Wedding - bunting is strewn around the village and everyone is looking forward to the BBQ and frivolities – that is,  after William has kissed his beautiful bride!

Fingers crossed the weather holds out, as it's not looking too good right now!!

Butterfly, Butterfly……..

Eller sommerfugl, sommerfugl……… bear with me, all will be revealed! Winking smile

“ Butterfly, butterfly
Flying into the wind
You can be sure of it
That’s no place to begin…..”

But actually, it was for me!……..

MY APRICOT CARDI 19A

From the moment I saw this beauty, I coveted it, but when it came to it’s release, I missed the opportunity to pre-order it  (skiing in Obergurgl always falls at the wrong time then! LOL). So, after giving up the search online, I remembered that I had this old crocheted beauty sitting in my cupboard and with that, my mind started working overtime at the possibilities of ‘reinventing’ it and making something with the ‘Little Miss Norway’ stamp on it, so here’s a wee little tale of how it happened……..

This is the original apricot cardigan from Odd Molly……..

m21-99-731-1516-front-114-6

Isn’t it a beauty? Smile

Whilst I love it, I have to admit that the tassels around the bottom would have annoyed me somewhat,  but I’m lucky in that my old number didn’t have anything of the sort attached to it – not to say that I couldn’t have lived with them, but I was in fear that if I had managed to purchase it, they would have become frayed and tattered over time, anyhow, I digress!

So here’s my original little wrap over cardigan which I bought in a small shop in Greece many, many years ago and it cost me next to nothing. Thing is tho, that I haven’t worn it for years now, due to the fact that the crocheted ties were just too long and that it was white and I have a few of them in my wardrobe (well I would, wouldn’t I?!)

MY APRICOT CARDI20

Those ties really did bug me, but I knew that this little beauty had the potential to look so much prettier and live a new life again! First of all, the crocheted ties had to go and so they did, then I dyed it what should have been a perfect shade of powder pink, but it came out more like a bubblegum shade (yikes!) so I had to remove some of the dye in order to get it to the shade I wanted – and here’s the result……..

MY APRICOT CROCHET CARDI1

The finished colour – as I’d imagined it was going to look in the first place!

MY APRICOT CROCHET CARDI4

The detailing on the cardigan is lovely indeed!

MY APRICOT CROCHET CARDI3

As you can see! Smile

So then, the colour was fine, and I needed to add some new ties to it, but I wanted to put an extra stamp on it, and with that, I decided to add a crocheted butterfly which I'd made a while back, which was in a contrasting shade of pink that would be attached to the back of the cardigan – and this is what I came up with…..

MY APRICOT CROCHET CARDI5

Crocheting it was the easy bit – attaching it to the back of a cardigan which, because of it’s open pattern, makes it very stretchy, was the challenging part – but I got there in the end – thankfully! LOL

MY APRICOT CROCHET CARDI7

Attaching the antennae's was most definitely the trickiest part of the process!!

And here’s the finished article – an ‘homage’ to that beautiful little Odd Molly cardigan…….

MY APRICOT CROCHET CARDI12

It is asymmetrical by the way and yes, the little adornment is another story which I will leave for another time……..Winking smile

MY APRICOT CROCHET CARDI14

Here you can see the embroidered tape which I used to replace the original crocheted ties – and no, whilst it may have the ‘Little Miss Norway’ touch to it, the Norwegian bow is not attached – like I say, it’s another story!

MY APRICOT CROCHET CARDI16

I have to admit that it does look so much better now!!

MY APRICOT CROCHET CARDI17

Well I hope, if nothing else, that this has inspired some of you out there to have a go and see what you can do with an old piece of crocheted clothing that you no longer use – but please bear in mind, that it needs to be 100% cotton or else the dye may not take so well – if at all!

“Butterfly begin……….”

Wishing you all a lovely day!

Fake Socks or Legwarmers–you decide…..

Don’t talk to me about laptops – especially new ones that don’t work and cause a myriad of problems! I’ve lost a fair bit of data and a lot of hours and hassle these last few weeks, so not much time for blogging and knitting and the like, but I did makes these lovelies recently, in between making phone calls to the computer store and what felt like living in the place at times – oh well……

Well at least I enjoyed making these beauties and it’s nice to know that one pair have arrived and the others should be winging their way to Norway – that’s if they haven’t arrived already!

FAKE SOCKS2

The shades are muted and very pretty indeed – they will go with absolutely anything and look lovely either worn slightly above the knee or a little bit slouchy – the choice is yours!

FAKE SOCKS POWDER1

These Powder lovelies arrived in Sweden a few days ago and are adorning the legs of a sweet girl there! (you know who you are!!) Smile

FAKE SOCKS CHALK1

And this lovely pair should be arriving very soon in the land of my forefathers – in fact, I’m very proud to say that they were my very first order from Norway!

Little Miss Norway will be worn in vakre Norge at last!

FAKE SOCKS4

Fake socks or legwarmers – you decide!

Wishing you all a lovely day, wherever you may be! As for me, well I’m getting back to setting up this loan laptop as mine looks like it’s going to be away for a few weeks yet! Sad smile

PRETTY SHORTS ALL IN A ROW……

SHORTS AND SHORTS
Happy Friday everyone! 1st April, and to me it feels like it’s been a long time in coming, in fact, I was only saying the other day that I would be glad to see the back of this year, then realised it was only March!! Sad smile

Well that’s not a positive thing to say I guess, but so far this year, things haven’t been going too well for me, so it’s about time I cheered myself up with some little pretties here – and what could have made me happier than when I received a lovely little package from Sweden yesterday, courtesy of a lovely lady there who’s blog you can have a look at here ……..

http://earlymorningprose.blogspot.com

This lovely lady is new to the world of Molly blogging, so why not pop over there and say ‘Hi!’ to her?!
She managed to get hold of the loveliest pair of rose ‘Dreamdate’ shorts that I had coveted for such a time, and I wasn’t disappointed when I saw them, as they are delightful – and here they are…..
ROSE DREAMDATE SHORTS

Are they not the sweetest little pair of shorts you’ve ever seen – I love them and tried them on the minute I’d stopped looking at the pretty packaging and note inside!! Smile

You can bet your bottom dollar that I’m going to attempt to create my own ‘homage’ to these lovelies sometime soon – so watch this space!
Thank you so much my dear, you know I love them to bits!!

So then I decided to have a look around my craft room and see what other shorts I’ve made were lurking in there and so I found this little lot…

PRETTY SHORTS

They all looked so sweet, arranged next to one another like this – such pretty shades!

Looks like I’m going to be back in the craft room real soon sewing again by the looks of things – that is, in between knitting and creating all the new ideas I have running around my head, and in my design book, of course!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend – wherever you may be!

SPRING HAS SPRUNG……

And isn’t it wonderful? I have lots of cut twigs of Forsythia, and Blossom etc. all around the home and they’re now starting to bud and they just make everything feel so much happier and Spring-like!

Anyway, I thought I would post these lovely little cotton wristlets as I almost threw them away the other day without realising it – phew, thank heavens I didn’t as they are soo pretty!

VINTAGE POWDER ENGELS 1
They are such a wonderful shade, very like the Vintage Powder shade that Odd Molly do so well. They’re made from a lovely 4 ply cotton, making them very light and perfect for Spring/Summer wear.

VINTAGE POWDER OUTFIT3
This is another pair which I recently made to go with my lovely Vintage Powder Remix blouse, and they work perfectly together!

VINTAGE POWDER OUTFIT4
They also work so well with this sweet little Odd Molly jumper from a previous collection.

m11-201-618-7504-front-7-4

And I recently made a pair for a lovely girl who wanted them to go with this sweet silk tank – and I can see why she did now, as the colour works perfectly!

So then, seeing as I thankfully did not throw this pair away, they are now offered for sale at £35.00 exc. of P&P.

Thank you for dropping by – wishing you a lovely day – it’s raining here! Sad smile

SOME OF THE GIRLS WHO WEAR LITTLE MISS NORWAY.....

Well I'm back from a weeks skiing and into the thick of things again with these little wristlets of mine - in all the colours of the Odd Molly spectrum to boot!

So then,  I thought it was about time I posted some of the lovelies who have been kind enough to support my designs over the past year - for now, I will only post photos of those wearing my knitwear as I don't want to embarrass anyone wearing a pair of my shorts from the Boudoir sets, just in case!

Above, wearing a pretty little chalk coloured shrug is beautiful Maria from Sweden. Doesn't she looks divine! I think it really compliments her Odd Molly dress so well!  If only I lived close to her in Sweden, I'd love to have her model all my clothing and accessories!

And here she is once again, wearing a pair of my Powder Sleevewarmers - in fact, they look so much nicer on her than they did me, as Maria has such pretty hands

We always seem to purchase the same Odd Molly items from each collection, so I guess you could say we have the same Molly tastes!

And the lovely girls from Fitts & Co, Amy and Brooklynn wearing my 'Engel' Wristlets. They really do compliment their Odd Molly cardigans, don't you think?

Like Maria, Amy has the most beautiful hands (not that Brooklynn doesn't!) as you just can't see hers!

And here's lovely Kristina Maria from Denmark, wearing her pretty little Chalk 'Engel' wristlets - I've lost count of just how many pairs of these little mamma's I've made so far! Pretty jewellery indeed!

And lastly for now, lovely Ellen from Sweden, wearing a pair of my Powder cotton 'Engel' wristlets, which she recently received - love her outfit and the way she has layered so well, well done Ellen, looking good!

I'd just like to say a big 'Thank You!' to everyone out there who has supported my designs over the last few years, as it really means a lot to me, and if anyone out there has purchased something from me and would like their photo published here, please drop me a line and let me know, as I'd love to add more of you!

And with that, I really need to get back to some more knitting, whilst sitting in the Spring sun with a nice cup of hot chocolate - as whilst the sun is shining, it's not that warm! LOL

Wishing you all a sunny day - wherever you may be!

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.....A/W Inspiration

Sounds like a line from '  Monty Pythons' but actually I've been so inspired by the lovely colours from the recent Odd Molly A/W 11 preview shots, that it spurred me onto to making some new mittens for the forthcoming season - already! Now that may be the case in the fashion world, where they're months of us mere mortals in terms of what's hot, but nevertheless, I couldn't help myself!

I'm calling this pair (the other one is finished but just needs finishing off!) my 'Vintage Berry Engel Mittens' and instead of knitting them in just one shade, I was inspired to go over-the-top with the colours, just like Odd Molly have done, which is wonderful indeed! The shades of rose pink and chalk work so very well and will go with just about anything in that shade range.

Right now I'm working on another pair which are in the rose pink shade, with vintage berry edging and will be finished off with chalk crocheted edge, and these are also very stunning, so watch this space!

To make things a little different, I've moved the bow to the bottom edge of the mitten instead of up at the top, so it will always be on show, and it looks very effective this way!

If you want to be in there first, both pairs of mittens will be for sale at £35.00 (excl of P&P) but don't worry, as there will be many different variations coming along soon!

You can see how well they go with this pretty little shrug which I recently made in an alpaca silk yarn, and it's the most luxurious thing I've ever knitted!

This shrug is still available but at a reduced price of £50.00 as I desperately need to shift things on as my craft room is getting untidy again! P&P is extra of course! The yarn cost me more than this so this is something not to be missed!

Happy shopping and once again, thanks for dropping by!

Stor klem!
